Playing the opener to Saturday’s Sigmar Field dedication, P.C’s eighth-ranked women gave fans and visitors a headliner-worthy display.

The Pirates (5-1-0 in conference, 6-2-2 overall) got a score from Ashlyn Frizzelle eight minutes before halftime, then slammed the door with three scores in the final 10 minutes in a 4-0 victory against Whatcom on Oct. 1.

Jackie Rodgers, Carolina Flores and Shelby Solomon each had scores as Peninsula completed their series against the NWAACC North with just one loss (to No. 5-ranked Edmonds) and tallied their fourth consecutive win.

Krystal Daniels notched Peninsula’s fifth shutout of the young season, the fifth in six games.

P.C. hosts Tacoma today, Oct. 5 — game time is 2 p.m. — before hosting Highline on Oct. 8.

Peninsula powers past Skagit

Slumping Skagit Valley sought their first win against a visiting Peninsula squad leading the NWAACC West on Sept. 28.

It didn’t take long, however, for the Pirates to dismiss any hopes for an upset.

Kera Kanari had two goals and five others added scores in a 7-0 blowout in Mount Vernon last week for the No. 8 Pirate squad.

Rodgers, Solomon, Tabitha Bare, Kelsie Ng and Kendra Miner added goals for P.C., who outshot the Cardinals, 26-1.

Daniels made the lone save.

“We had a good result against a struggling team,” Peninsula coach Kanyon Anderson said. “Our defense played well.”

Rodgers, Frizzell, Jessica Farrell, Kahli Rose and Brittany Dyer-Smith had assists.
