Sequim’s girls corral Cowboys

It wasn’t an Olympic League win, but it was just what the Wolves needed.

After suffering through several forgettable third quarters this season, Sequim whitewashed the host Chimacum Cowboys 9-0 in the third period en route to a 43-31 non-league victory on Jan. 5.

Taylor Balkan scored 13 points, including a three-for-three performance behind the 3-point stripe, while teammate Alexas Besand scored 10 points and eight rebounds.

Sequim’s Demiree Briones added a team high three assists and Melanie Guan had four assists.

Sequim led 24-19 at halftime.
