Soccer: P.C. hosts UW, Victoria match

Soccer fans on the Olympic Peninsula are in for a treat.

Peninsula College hosts a match on Saturday, May 5, with the University of Washington men’s team against the Victoria Highlanders of the USL Premier Development League.

“This should prove to be a great match-up with both teams having finished second in their respective conferences last year,” P.C. men’s head coach Andrew Chapman said.

The Huskies are in their second season under new coach Jamie Clarke, posting a 12-4-2 record last season.

The Highlanders, a semipro team, are entering their third year in the Premier Development League under the guidance of former Seattle Sounder legend Ian Bridge, posting a record of 9-4-3 last season.

Entrance fee to the game held at P.C.’s Sigmar Field is by donation.

“If you like great soccer, this will be an opportunity you will not want to miss,” Chapman said. “This will be a great game with some very talented players. (There is) limited seating so get there early; this is going to fill up quick.”
