Girls Basketball: Wolves take two losses on holiday break

Riding high with two straight wins going into winter break, the Lady Wolves (4-1 league, 4-5 overall) saw some tough competition at the Napavine Tiger Town Shootout Tournament on Dec. 27-28.

Sequim lost its first game 46-39 to the hosting Napavine Tigers.

Vicki Cummins paced the Wolves with 10 points followed by 8 each from Alexas Besand and Caitlin Stofferahn. Sequim kept it close but the Tigers' Mackenzie Olson (16 points) and Karley Bornstein (15 points) helped pull away in the fourth.

The next day, Sequim stayed close with the Zillah Leopards but lost momentum in the fourth after being outscored 26-9.

Zillah's Trista Takes Enemy had a monster game with 23 points while Sequim's Kylee Williams scored 12.

With school back in session this week, the Wolves traveled to North Kitsap (4-1, 7-2) in a battle for second place in the Olympic League tonight, Jan. 7.
