Coming up aces for OCS
Sequim Gazette staff
Organizers of the Friends of Olympic Christian School’s second Charity Golf Tournament say the event was a big success. The tourney, held July 19 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course in Sequim, saw 100 golfers competing in scramble format for as much as $40,000 in prizes. Each par 3 had a hole-in-one prize worth at least $5,000 and a Scion vehicle up for grabs on one hole, though no golfers were fortunate enough to ace their way to a top prize.
The team of Jack Heckman, John Tweeter, Justin Ketchum and Mike Dupuis took top honors for low gross score (51). Winning the Olympic Christian School Eagle Flight low net score was the team of James Alcaraz, Fred Harrison, Keynon Fanslow and Zach Lund with a 53. Cyndi Knutson won both the women’s Long Drive and Straightest Drive (all golfers) competitions. Garrett Smithson, Chad Wagner, Gary Payton and Alex Atwell won the inaugural Pro Challenge Flight.
Following the Tournament, golfers and more than 30 adult and children volunteers from Olympic Christian School enjoyed a barbecue lunch, awards ceremony and drawing for prizes donated by local businesses.
The third annual Friends of Olympic Christian School Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 8, 2015.
