Nine Sequim swimmers posted personal-best times as the Wolves picked up their first win of 2008, outswimming Bremerton’s Knights 100-84 on Jan. 17.

Sequim took first in just four of the 12 events but their depth proved too much to handle: The Wolves swept three of the top four places in eight events.

James Cockburn won the 100 free and set a personal-best mark of 59.36 seconds. He also took second in the 200 individual medley (2:34.20), earning another personal best mark by five seconds.

Cockburn helped the 200 free relay team, along with Ezra Perkins, Parker Steichen and Alex Skinner, take first place in 1:58.79.

Tommy Moores took first in the 50 free (26.74).

Jay Barton led Sequim’s divers with 133.35 points while teammates Mike and Chris Peterson (112.15 and104.95 points, respectively) took third and fourth.

Other Sequim swimmers who set personal best marks include: Skinner in the 200 free (2:31.57), a 41-second improvement; Moores in the 100 back (1:16.26); Nick Bowden in the 200 free (2:47.93); Steven Moore in the 200 IM (3:00.72) by 10 seconds; Steffen Estep in the 500 free (7:05.58); Tanner Estep in both 50 free (31.43) and 100 backstroke (1:29.83); Brett Cain in the 500 free (7:47.20); and Taylor Lepper in the 100 back (1:28.33).

The Wolves (2-3) were scheduled to challenge Port Angeles away on Jan. 22 — results were not available at press time.

Sequim travels to Olympic Jan. 24 for the final regular season meet.

The Wolves have a 2A divisional meet slated for Jan. 29.
