These two Wolves are Red Devils.

Caleb Grubb and Chad Wagner play baseball for Lower Columbia Community College, a school boasting nine Northwest Athletic Association of Community College championships dating back to 2005. In 2007, the Red Devils qualified for the NWAACC playoffs and completed the season 24-1 in conference play, 36-7 overall.

Before arm problems derailed his spring, Wagner, a sophomore, was throttling opponents with a 1.75 earned-run-average in 56 2/3 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts. Coaches say his arm is healthy and his fastball is reaching 89 miles per hour. As a senior in high school, Wagner was named all-league pitcher with a 5-2 record, 1.79 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 39 innings. He graduated in 2006.

Lower Columbia coaches report Wagner has signed on to play at Hawaii-Pacific in 2009.

Also a 2006 Sequim High grad, Grubb is a freshman on this Red Devils team. He was named to all-league teams as a junior and senior, hitting .610 with two home runs, 19 runs batted in, 36 runs scored and eight steals in his final season as a Wolf.

From Sequim to Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Jacob Berdine now throws for the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks, an NAIA school, in North Dakota.

Now a collegiate junior, Berdine pitched for Big Bend in 2006 and 2007. As a sophomore, he was 1-0 with a 6.54 earned-run-average, 10 strikeouts and just six walks in 31 2/3 innings. As a freshman, he pitched in 13 innings, posting a 1-0 record and 4.85 ERA.

Berdine is majoring in pre-law and minoring in computer science.

Berdine, a 2005 SHS graduate, pitched for the Wolves and the Wilder club team.
