Sequim High's bowlers kicked off the season against Peninsula High School (Gig Harbor) on Nov. 13, slipping 4-3 in a match decided by just two pins.
After falling in the first game 619-582, the Wolves came back to win the second game 586-519. Both regular games count as two points.
In the one-point Baker games, Sequim dropped both
by close scores (90-88 and 121-115), finishing with a higher total pin count than the Seahawks (1,371-1,349).
If the Wolves had been able to take one of the Baker games, they would have won their first match of the season for the first time since 2003.
Samantha Whiteside led the Wolves with 305 total pins, including a match-high 185 pins in the first game. Alex Whiteside was second with 263 total pins. Sara Hogoboom knocked down 137 pins in game two, tops between both teams.
Nikki Shaner led Peninsula with 264 total pins.
Last season, Sequim was 1-2 against Peninsula.
The Wolves (0-1) are back in action Nov. 20 against North Mason (Belfair), and then host the Bremerton Knights Nov. 25. Game time is at 3:30 p.m.; home matches are at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles.
