Rain-Deer run
set for Saturday
The city of Port Angeles' annual Rain-Deer Fun Run/Walk 5k and 10k is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, beginning at the Port Angeles City Pier.
The course is an out-and-back along the waterfront trail for both races.
Cost is $25 per person; cost includes race registration, an event T-shirt and refreshments. Medals are awarded for first, second and third in each age division at an awards ceremony at about 2:15 p.m. Divisions include: Youths 13 and under; 14-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 and 70-plus.
Proceeds raised go to the city's recreation general fund to support programs and special events throughout the year. For more information, contact Dan Estes at 417-4557 or by e-mail, destes@cityofpa.us.
Canadian fisher to speak at anglers' meeting
Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter hosts Canadian fisher Roger Bligh at the club's next meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
Bligh, from Newton Cove Lodge in Tahsis, British Columbia, is slated to speak about fishing opportunities and techniques in Esperanza Inlet, Nootka Sound and Vancouver Island. For more information, call Herb Prins at 582-0836 or see www.pugetsoundanglers.org.
