Sequim High's softball squad rocked Olympic League opponents for seven home runs and a perfect 3-0 mark in Olympic League play last week.
The Wolves ripped three first-inning home runs in a rout of Port Townsend on March 26, lifting the Wolves to a 7-1 overall record.
A final score was not reported.
The Wolves are on spring break until an April 6 date in Poulsbo against the North Kitsap Vikings. Sequim hosts Olympic's Trojans on April 8.
Thanks for the batting practice
It took Sequim nearly as much time to warm up as to dispose of hapless Bremerton on March 24.
Maddy Zbaraschuk hit two homers and drove in seven runs in a 15-0, three-inning thrashing of the visiting Knights.
Umpires can stop games by way of a mercy rule if one team is ahead by 15 runs after three innings or by 10 runs after five. Sequim's red-hot bats went for the former, rocking the Knights pitching for 16 hits.
Sequim's one-through-five hitters - Chelsea Winfield, Cindy Miller, Lea Hopson, Zbaraschuk and Demireee Briones - were 11-for-13 with four extra-base hits, 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored and five steals.
Amariah Clift and Amber Robb also had two hits each.
Briones barely broke a sweat on the mound, tossing three innings of no-hit ball, striking out three batters.
Offense comes alive, Briones sharp in P.A.
"This was our first big test."
Sequim coach Mel Hendrickson figured the Port Angeles Roughriders could match up well with his Wolves, and for five innings they did.
And then that Sequim offense really got going.
The Wolves scored four runs in the sixth and seventh innings at Port Angeles on March 22, turning a 3-0 lead into an 11-0 rout and their first Olympic League victory.
Briones tossed all seven innings in the shutout, striking out four Roughriders and giving up just four hits.
At the plate, Briones and Zbaraschuk each ripped home runs as the Wolves got to P.A. starter Stacey Webb.
"P.A is a decent team; I thought it would be a great match-up," Hendrickson said. "But we ... found the gaps."
Hopson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored, plus she made a diving stop on a likely base hit. Zbaraschuk had four RBIs and Briones drove in two. Clift added a home run and three RBIs.
