Eagles host tryouts, fundraiser
The Olympic Peninsula Eagles football team hosts tryouts from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Greywolf Elementary School, 171 Carlsborg Road.
Players at least 18 years of age by May 7, 2011, are eligible to play.
Team officials are seeking a game announcer and other helpers for the 2011 season that starts in early May.
The team is taking over the Sequim McDonald’s to raise funds for the upcoming 2011 season. The McTakeover is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Anglers’ auction funds youth program
Puget Sound Anglers — North Olympic Peninsula Chapter holds its annual fundraising auction and dinner on Thursday, Jan. 20. Doors open at 5 p.m. and a spaghetti dinner is served starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Guy Cole Convention Center in Carrie Blake Park, 202 Blake Ave., Sequim.
Water is provided or bring a beverage. Donations for the dinner are welcomed.
A silent auction for a wide assortment of merchandise runs through the evening. The live auction following dinner includes salmon and steelhead fishing trips with guides on Olympic Peninsula rivers and saltwater trips for salmon or halibut that are offered by club members departing from Port Angeles, Sequim or Sekiu.
Auction proceeds fund the annual Olympic Peninsula Kids Fishing Program at the Sequim water reclamation pond that will be held May 21.
MLK hoops tourney set
Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Martin Luther King Invite, presented by Captain T’s Custom Stuff, on Jan. 15-16.
The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. Entry fee is $235 per team; there is a four-game guarantee.

SkyRidge hosts scramble
The SkyRidge Golf Course’s Midwinter Open Three-Person Scramble is set for Saturday, Jan. 15 at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.
Each team must have a total index of 15.0 or higher.
