Sequim Middle School’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball squad took another big step toward a league title with a 50-15 win against Chimacum on Jan. 12.

Julian Cruz led all scorers with 14 points, Jackson Oliver added 13 points and Daniel Harker chipped in with eight points.

Hayes Clausen and Grant Witherall were tough on the boards, said Sequim coach Kris Henrikson.

“We … worked hard all week in practice and put forth great effort and execution both offensively and defensively,” he said. “I was very pleased with the whole team’s performance.”

Sequim play at Stevens (Port Angeles) on Jan. 17 and will host Forks on Jan. 19.

The Timberwolves wrap up their season on Monday, Jan. 23, at home against Neah Bay.
