In another early season, cross-state contest, Peninsula College men's soccer squad dropped a 2-1 decision to Northwest College of Wyoming at North Idaho College on Sept. 1, then rebounded to top host North Idaho College 3-1 the following day.

Henrique Noujuimei scored for the Pirates off an assist by Daniel Gonzalez in P.C.'s first game against a National Junior College team, but Peninsula couldn't hold off the Trappers. P.C. lost a player to a red card just 15 minutes into the game and played 75 minutes short a player.

"It was tough getting into the flow of the game," Peninsula coach Andrew Chapman said. "Players still played well and we still outshot the other team."

On Sunday, all the scoring came in the second half. Peninsula broke the scoreless tie when Richard Gallarde set up Erick Urzua for a score. After North Idaho tied it up off a penalty kick at 76 minutes, Alex Martinez put P.C. up 2-1 six minutes later and added an insurance goal five minutes after that. Gonzalez and Jake Forrester earned assists.

"It was great to fight for a full 90 minutes … especially after such a bad game yesterday," Chapman said.
