NWAACC West Division standings

Team                Conf.   Over.

Peninsula         7-1-0  12-1-0
Bellevue         5-1-1    7-2-1
Tacoma 4-4-0    5-5-0
Highline         2-2-3    4-3-4
Olympic 1-4-3    2-5-4
Lower Col.  1-5-2    2-7-2

Same match-up, same result.

The No. 4-ranked Walla Walla Warriors defended their home turf Saturday, knocking off undefeated and top-ranked Peninsula, 1-0.

Amanda Jones scored on a Paige Pontarolo assist in the ninth minute and the Warrior defense — led by goalkeeper Kylie Mascol — kept the highest-scoring offense out of the net.

It's the same result fans saw in the 2011 NWAACC title game, when the Warriors earned their third consecutive title by topping Peninsula 1-0.

Topping Tacoma

Peninsula made quick work of the Tacoma Titans with a 10-0 victory at home on Oct. 3.

The Pirates got scores from Bri Afoa, Briana Estrellado and, just before halftime, Shelbi Vienna-Hallam to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Jordan Dinneen and Ashlyn Crossan added two scores apiece in the second half.

The Pirates got assists from 10 different players — Afoa, Dinneen, Miranda Sochacki, Morgan Atchley, Emilia Stefanko, Kendra Miner, Hailey Berg, Irene Jones and Melissa Delgado.

While the offense was on full display, Peninsula's defense gave up zero shots on goal, giving P.C. keeper Denae Brooks a relatively easy shutout.

Looking ahead

Peninsula (7-1-0 in conference play, 12-1-0) hosts Olympic today, Oct. 10 — game time is 2 p.m.

The Pirates are at Wenatchee on Oct. 13 and Bellevue on Oct. 17 before their next home game, a match with division rival Highline on Oct. 20.
