Following a great season, the Wolves have claimed a co-championship of the Olympic League with the Olympic Trojans.

Both teams finished  15-1 in the league and 17-3 overall and they faced an option to play a tiebreaker on Feb. 11, in North Kitsap High School but Sequim conceded.

The Wolves gave the No. 1 seed to the Trojans based on health and traveling issues.

“We are suffering from a few minor injuries and we have a couple of guys that are recovering from the flu,” head coach Greg Glasser said.

“To play Monday would be to possibly further injure our players and also limit the healing time of our sick players. By conceding this game we hope to get everyone back and at full strength.”

Sequim coaches said guards Anthony Pinza is out with the flu and Tim Guan remains out with a concussion he sustained in the Jan. 31 game against Port Angeles.

Athletic Director Dave Ditlefsen said with three trips to Tacoma planned this week for the playoffs already, they want to keep the players fresh.
“The No. 2 seed isn't a bad place to be,” he said.

Sequim rides a 10-game winning streak into the playoffs where they claim the No. 2 seed for the Olympic League and a first-round, loser-out game tonight, Feb. 13, at Lakes High School against Steilacoom (7-8 in the 2A South Puget Sound League and 10-13 overall). Olympic receives a first-round bye.

If Sequim wins, they'll face Franklin Pierce, (9-5 in the 2A SPSL league and 14-8 overall) on Feb. 15, again in Lakes.

The Wolves won with a big fourth period comeback on Feb. 5 by hitting key free throws down the stretch in a 65-56 win at Bremerton.

Jason Brocklesby scored 30 points and Alex Barry added 12 as Sequim outlasted the Knights, who remained in third place for the season to take the ninth seed for the playoffs to face Sumner.

Brocklesby hit four 3-pointers while teammate Gabe Carter had seven rebounds and 10 assists.
Deonte Dixon led Bremerton with 19 points.
Sequim held a 29-28 lead at halftime and 42-40 lead after three quarters.

Sequim's leading scorer didn't let up in a Thursday matchup against the Port Townsend on their home floor.

Brocklesby scored 32 points on 11-19 shooting and stole five balls to keep pace with the Redskins by himself. At the end of the first half, Sequim led 31-6.

This was Brocklesby's fifth 30-point plus game of the season and he finished with a 21.5 points per game average.

Carter finished with another near triple-double with nine points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Alex Barry also stepped up to score seven and snare six rebounds.
