Bowling: Wolves fall to Eagles, Trojans

After some early season success, Sequim’s bowling squad is on a mid-season slide.

The Wolves dropped their sixth and seventh consecutive matches last week at home, falling 7-0 to Klahowya on Jan. 2 and 7-0 to Olympic on Jan. 4.

Against the league-leading Klahowya’s Eagles, Quinn Danielson led Sequim with a 222 series (106, 116) while Grace Tolberd had a 185 (86, 99). The Eagles posted regular-format wins (582-422, 654-467) and Baker-format victories (150-111, 143-70).

Olympic’s Trojans similarly dominated the Jan. 4 match, winning regular games 706-465 and 628-507 and Baker games 150-105 and 142-79.

Danielson led the Wolves with a 265 series (139, 126) while Porter Funston had a 134-pin second game.

Sequim (2-4 in league, 2-8 overall) were slated to host Klahowya on Jan. 9. The Wolves take on North Mason on Jan. 11 and play at the Olympic League/sub-district tournament on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Top bowlers and teams from the league tourney advance to the West Central District tourney set for Saturday, Jan. 27, in Tacoma.
