Looking to knock off undefeated North Kitsap, Sequim dropped a couple of close match-ups and the match, 5-2, to the visiting Vikings on Oct. 9.

NK’s Sam Horn outlasted Sequim’s Raymond Lam in the No. 1 singles play in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) while Brandon Cole and Cole Walker edged Sequim’s No. 4 doubles team of Henry Hughes and Duston Koch, 6-4 and 5-7. North Kitsap also won in No. 2 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles matches.

Sequim’s Thomas Hughes and Blake Wiker earned a win in No. 1 doubles, a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Logan Chmlewski and Jared Reiter, and the Wolves’ Damon Little and Liam Payne topped NKs’ Max Larsen and Ryan Schmidt, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 2 doubles play.

Sequim rebounded with a 6-1 trouncing of Olympic at home on Oct. 11.

Lam beat top Trojan Zachary Wyant 6-1, 6-1, while teammate Liam Braaten won in No. 3 singles play, 6-1 and 6-0 over Olympic’s Zeke Case.

Hughes and Wiker didn’t drop a point in a straight-set win over Devaughn Ragan and Lukas Smokowsket to stay unbeaten (7-0) on the season. Payne and Little also won in straight sets — a 6-0, 6-4 win over Sawyer Alvey and Ashton Trottma — to improve to 11-2 as a doubles team.

Looking ahead

The Olympic League tourney is set for Oct. 17-18 at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo.

Top finishers from that advance to the West Central District tournament, slated for Oct. 26-27 at the Kitsap Tennis & Athletic Center in Bremerton.

The top singles and doubles teams from districts earn state 2A tourney berths to be played in May, in conjuntion with the prep girls’ state tournament in Seattle.
