It didn’t take long for Sequim’s Wolves to bounce back.

The Wolves (2-2 in Olympic League, 3-5 overall) shrugged off a loss to rival Port Angeles with a 2-1 win against Kingston on March 31.

Isabelle Dennis gave up just one hit — an infield single — then drove in the winning run in the seventh inning.

“A fun game to watch,” Sequim coach Tim Lusk said.

With the game tied 1-1, Raelyn Opdyke doubled and Bobbi Sparks followed with a single, setting up Dennis’ winning hit.

The win helped Sequim move on from a 13-0 home loss to Port Angeles on March 29.

Roughrider ace Nizhoni Wheeler struck out 14 of 17 batters in tossing the five-inning no-hitter.

“I just set the team down and said, ‘She’s a great pitcher.’ We have to learn to adjust. You don’t make mistakes against a team like that,” Lusk said.

“She mixed her fastball, drop curve and changeup beautifully to keep the Sequim players off balance,” Port Angeles coach Randy Steinman said.

PA’s Lauren Lunt went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs in the win.

Looking ahead

Sequim is off for spring break until April 12 when they travel to Bremerton. The Wolves host Olympic on April 13 and play at North Mason on April 19 and at North Kitsap on April 20.

“We’ll come back and hopefully start put (together) some wins,” Lusk said.
