A calm before the storm, perhaps.

Sequim’s varsity fastpitch squad had a bit of a respite last week with just two games on its schedule, and was only able to complete one thanks to poor weather.

After knocking off Bremerton 10-5 on May 1, Sequim’s May 4 game at Coupeville was suspended mid-game thanks to poor weather.

The Wolves (6-4 in league play, 8-7 overall) were slated to play at Olympic on May 8 and at North Kitsap on May 9 — both games weighing heavily on league’s rankings and playoff picture — before Sequim closes the regular season at home against Coupeville on May 10.

The Wolves will play Coupeville at 3 p.m., then finish the remaining innings of the May 4 game that was suspended, Sequim High athletic director Dave Ditlefsen said.

The West Central District tourney is slated for May 19-20 at Sprinker Fields in Tacoma, with six of the 12 teams advancing to the state 2A tournament.
