Headed into the holiday break, Sequim’s girls basketball squad is holding their own against other Olympic League foes.

The Wolves (2-2 in league, 3-2 overall) rebounded from a 65-35 home loss to North Kitsap on Dec. 13 with a 43-31 victory at Kingston on Dec. 16.

Against North Kitsap, Adrienne Haggerty led the Wolves with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Jessica Dietzman had six points.

Sequim was within 24-21 at halftime, but the Vikings (1-1, 4-2) pulled away.

Three days later against the Buccaneers, Sequim reversed their second half trend. Down 19-16 at the half, the Wolves stormed back with a 12-6 third quarter and a 15-6 fourth quarter.

Haggerty led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sequim also got six points and six rebounds from Ella Christiansen, five points and six rebounds from Bobbi Sparks, and five points and five boards from Madison Green.

Looking ahead

Sequim gets a pair of non-league games before 2016 is complete, taking part in the second-annual Battle of the Cove in Kingston on Dec. 28-29.

The Wolves take on Olympia at 4 p.m. on Dec. 28 and Sammamish at 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 29.

Sequim is back in action Jan. 3 when they host rival Port Angeles; girls start at 5:15 p.m., followed by the boys’ matchup at 7 p.m.
