Glasser signs on to play hoops at Northwest

Sequim High basketball standout Payton Glasser is ready to keep playing on into his college days after signing a letter of intent to play for the Northwest University Eagles later this year. Glasser, pictured here with new Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine, led Sequim 19.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Olympic League first team. He helped lead the Wolves to their first district tournament berth since that 2014-2015 season. Northwest, a private Christian university in Kirkland, competes at the NAIA level in the Cascade Collegiate Conference throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. The Eagles went 13-18 last season, 7-13 in Cascade Conference play. Drinkwine is new to the school as well, taking over the Eagle program after three seasons on the Northwest staff as an assistant coach. As head men’s basketball coach at the Evergreen State College in Olympia from 2007-2010, he guided the Geoducks to two trips to the NAIA Division II National championships and his teams were ranked in the NAIA national poll top 25 three consecutive seasons.
