Klahhane gymnast brings home gold

The Klahhane Gymnastics Gold Division Team finished its season at the Xcel State Championships March 29-31 at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex in Kennewick, bringing back several top marks from the Pirate-themed event.

MeiYing Harper-Smith of Port Angeles topped the field in the Senior D age group, scoring 37.375 points to take the gold all-around medal. Harper-Smith also took three individual event medals: gold (first) on uneven bars (9.625 points), gold on balance beam (9.750) and sixth on vault 9.00.

In the Junior Division-Junior C age group, Kayli Sexton grabbed the seventh place all-around medal with a 35.875 score, and picked up individual fifth-place medals with scores of 9.00 on vault and beam. She also placed eighth in the floor exercise with 9.175 points.

Jessamyn Schindler, competing in Junior A age group, finished with 35.725 all-around points, good for 11th. She received individual medals for fourth place on vault (9.20) and ninth on uneven bars (9.25).
