Nothing like a weekend worth of softball to promote international relations.

Sequim Senior Softball played host to their friendly visitors from Canada, the Raiders — a men’s senior softball tournament team from Victoria, B.C. — at Carrie Blake Park July 3-4.

The traditional weekend of games during the Independence Day holiday is nearly a decade old and continues to inspire, says David Underwood of Sequim Senior Softball’s Grey Wolves team.

The festivities included a doubleheader on July 3 followed by a barbecue, then two more games and lunch on July 4 before the Raiders returned north.

Underwood said the Raiders’ tournament team has been playing together for 40 years.

The Victoria team returns the favor by hosting Sequim later this summer.
