Boating safety class set for Saturday

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary offers About Boating Safely, an eight-hour introductory class for people 13 and older, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Coast Guard Base-Port Angeles.

Topics covered include terminology, rules of the road, boat handling, trailering, legal requirements, equipment and emergency procedures.

Successful completion fulfills the class requirement for earning a Washington Boater Education card and federal boating card.

Pre-registration is required and all materials will be provided. Cost is $20 per person, $15 for additional family members, or free for active duty military and Auxiliary members.

Soccer leagues set in Sequim

The Sequim FC soccer league is now open for spring season registration. The league has three adult (age 16 and older) soccer leagues options, with the standard adult, coed competitive league playing 11-on-11 format. Sequim FC also features an over-40 coed and women-only leagues.

League representatives call the league a “recreational soccer league where you can meet new people, stay active and play with friends” and is a “perfect opportunity to stay involved in the game, get a run out and play with like-minded individuals.”

Cost is $40 per player. Register through April 27.

PA softball leagues forming

The Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department hosts men’s and women’s softball leagues this spring, with games starting in late April.

Registration is $900 per team and the deadline is April 19.

Games are at Elks and Shane fields in Port Angeles.

All men ages 18 and older are eligible. Those not on a team can sign up and be put on a “free agent” list.
