6k race for clean water

Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene, 481 Carlsborg Road, hosts the World Vision Global 6k on Saturday, May 4.

The distance is significant, event organizers say: 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles) is the average distance people walk to get water for their families and homes in the developing world.

Every $50 registration fee will be used to dig new wells, build handwashing stations, improve water infrastructure and pipelines and provide maintenance training.

The event begins at 10 a.m. Registration is available by searching for “Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene” at www.worldvision6k.org. Participants receive a T-shirt, race bib with photo of a sponsored child and a medal in the mail.

Runners and walkers will check-in and be bused to the trail nearby. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, cold water and soda following the race.
