Sign up for Babe Ruth

Olympic Junior Babe Ruth hosts an in-person registration session from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Vern Burton gymnasium, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

This is for all new and returning players ages 13, 14 and 15 years old from Port Angeles, Sequim and surrounding areas.

Returning players also will be contacted via mail and email with more details.

New registering players are asked to bring their birth certificates.

Gymnastics team tops NK

The Sequim-Port Angeles gymnastics team (2-0) edged Olympic League foe North Kitsap in Poulsbo on Jan. 25, with scores of 150.5-138.45.

PA senior Maya Wharton took top honors with 32.15 all-around points, followed by PA junior Sydner Miner (30.4 points) and PA senior Nikaila Price (29.5).

Sequim freshman Lesae Pfeffer scored 8.8 points on the floor exercise for fourth place in the event.

The Wolves-Roughriders team moves on to a 2A/3A sub-regional tournament at Auburn-Mountainview High School in Auburn on Feb. 2. Top athletes advance to the 2A-3A-4A district meet, also at Auburn-Mountainview High, on Feb. 11.

PA golfer get ace

Eric Schaefermeyer of Port Angeles got his second lifetime hole-in-one at Peninsula Golf Club on Jan. 28. He used a 9-iron to drive the 120-yard hole No. 4. Matt Gouchnour and J.D. Logelin, both of Port Angeles, witnessed the feat.
