Casino night shifts to March

Pirate Casino Night, a fundraiser for Peninsula College athletics featuring a buffet dinner, silent auction, live auction, a student athlete speaker, games and entertainment, has been postponed to 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 US Highway 101, Blyn.

The event was originally slated for Feb. 15.

Tickets — selling for $90 each or $720 for a table of eight — are still available by contacting Athletic Development Coordinator Donald Rollman at drollman@pencol.edu.

Last year’s event raised about $40,000 toward scholarships and the college is on target to reach that number again this year.

“We didn’t want to put our fans at risk given the weather and road conditions this week,” said Rick Ross, PC Associate Dean for Athletics and Student Life.

“This event is so important to our athletic program, we’re hopeful those who already purchased tickets will be able to attend on March 1,” Ross said. “We’re also hopeful that some of our regulars who weren’t able to attend Friday will be able to join us on the new date.”
