The Cedars to host junior league

Registrations are being accepted for The Cedars at Dungeness’ 17U Junior Golf League.

Open to youths of ages 14-17, the league includes eight, two-hour practices/lessons with PGA Director of Golf Bill Shea, and a three-day junior championship at the end of August — similar to the Clallam County Amateur Championship.

Cost is $150 for the entire lesson series and entry to the tournament. Practice balls and green fees are included.

The league is available to the first 20 to register.

Call 360-683-6344 for more information or to register.

Peninsula girls make all-state softball teams

Forks, Sequim, Quilcene and Port Angeles have representatives on the Washington State Softball Coaches Association 1A and 2A All-State softball teams. These players were voted on by prep softball coaches.

Making the 2A all-state team as an honorable mention was Sequim’s Isabelle Dennis as a second baseman and Port Angeles’ Peyton Rudd as a utility player.

Oblak gets ace

Tom Oblak of Sequim sank a hole-in-one on July 6 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course — his first ace.

Oblak used a 5 hybrid club to drive the 143-yard hole No. 17 at The Cedars.
