Tennis tournament set for Saturday

Peninsula Tennis Club is hosting a tennis tournament on Saturday, July 15, at the Sequim High School tennis courts. All are welcome. Play begins at 10 a.m.; participants are urged to come early to warm up and register. Cost is $10 for club members and $15 for all others. Hume gets sixth ace

David Hume of Sequim sank his sixth lifetime hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness on July 3. Hume used a hybrid club to drive the 150-yard hole No. 17 at The Cedars.

SkyRidge brings back Links Open

SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, hosts its annual Clallam Links Open on Sunday, July 23.

Tourney format is individual medal play with three divisions: men’s amateur 0-1, men’s amateur 15+ and women’s amateur. Make up a foursome or sign up individually to be placed in a grouping.

Payout is $1,000 based on a full field. The first 40 players are in.

Cost is $50 per player and includes golf, range balls, honey pot, lunch and prizes. Power carts are $15 per seat.

The event begins with a mulligan stew lunch at noon, followed by a mini-shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Seahawkers group sets meeting

Are you a Seahawks fan? The Olympic Peninsula Sea Hawkers, an official booster club recognized and affiliated with the Seattle Seahawks, is open to everyone, particularly those living on the Olympic Peninsula.

Club members get together and talk ’Hawks, and members have opportunities to help out at various Seahawks events with Seahawks and alumni players. Each year the group gets an autographed football that goes to one of its members. The group also raises money for local charities as well as national natural disasters.

There will be several free drawings at the next meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 17, at Smugglers Landing, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles. For more information, call 457-1392.

Sunland schedules amateur championships

Sunland Golf &Country Club will host a pair of amateur championships in late September.

The Washington State Golf Association’s Men’s Amateur (55 and older) and Super Senior Men’s Amateur (65 and older) will be held at Sunland from Sept. 27-29.

The entry fee is $200 and registration is due Sept. 6.
