Hoops tryouts set

Sequim Youth Basketball hosts registration for the upcoming basketball season for boys and girls in grades K-4, with registration set for Saturday, and Saturday, Nov. 11, at Sequim Middle School, 301 W. Hendrickson Road. Registration for kindergarten players is $5 per player and is from 9-10:30 a.m. Registration for players in grades 3-4 is $75 each and runs 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Registrants are asked to wear athletic shoes and bring a basketball, water bottle and signed Sequim Youth Basketball form; get forms at www.sequimyouthbasketball.com or on-site.

Sail, power squadron group to meet

The North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron meets Monday, Nov. 13, at the Sunland Golf and Country Club, 109 Hilltop Dr. Social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by a short business meeting, dinner and a speaker. This event is free and open to the public, a dinner can be purchased for $22 per person.

The guest speaker is Sequim resident Torben Blichfeld, a member of the squadron and an avid sailor. He is a master mariner with an “Any Ocean, Any Tonnage” certification. He spent his life on many ships and has stories to share about his worldwide experience while at sea.
