Coed volleyball league starting at PC

Registration is now open for the Peninsula Volleyball League, a coed league for experienced adult volleyball players.

Play begins with an open gym at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, and league play follows starting Nov. 8.

The league is open to players 16 and older.

Matches are played as a fundraiser for Pirate basketball at the Peninsula College gymnasium, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Registration fee is $300 per team. To register, contact Rick Ross at Peninsula College at rross@pencol.edu.

Coed hoops league set to start

The Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department hosts an adult basketball league (men, women 18+) with the season beginning Nov. 11 and running through Feb. 28.

Cost is $700 per team. Registration deadline is Nov. 2. Players without a team can call and get on a “free agent” list.

Games are at the Roosevelt Elementary School gymnasium, 106 Monroe Road.

Former Pirate leader has new position

Peter Stewart, former Peninsula College men’s basketball coach, was recently named Director of Player Development for the Wayzata Girls Basketball Association in Minneapolis, Minn.

Stewart led the Pirates to three NWAC North Division Conference championships in the mid-2000s before taking a job as head men’s basketball coach at Minot State University in North Dakota.
