Wolf Pack puts two in championships

After getting wins in the semifinals, two Sequim youth teams are looking for North Olympic Youth Football League championships when they hit the field Saturday in Forks.

The Wolf Pack Varsity and Junior Varsity squads look to take NOYFL titles on Nov. 3, with the JV squad taking on Forks at 1:30 p.m. and the Varsity team battling Chimacum at 4 p.m.

Under head coach Sam Salanoa, the Wolf Pack JV team went 6-1, with their lone loss coming to Forks. The team knocked off Neah Bay 33-19 in the semifinals.

The Varsity team, under head coach Shane Alonzo, went 5-2 and also topped Neah Bay in the semifinals, by an 18-13 score.

With the Wolf Pack Prep Squad, the three Sequim teams saw 72 players in action this fall, Wolf Pack president Doug Francis said.

“They all played with incredible heart and sportsmanship,” he said.
