$1 million shootout on tap

Qualifying rounds for a $1 million dollar shootout fundraiser for Assured Hospice of Clallam and Jefferson Counties will be held in September at The Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles.

Golfers will attempt to sink a hole-in-one on a par-3 hole at each course or get close enough to the pin to qualify for a final round event and party set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Qualifying rounds will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cedars at Dungeness and from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 4-6 at both The Cedars at Dungeness and Peninsula Golf Club.

The finals event and party includes free appetizers, refreshments, a dessert bar and a no-host bar.

Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place finishers.

Boating safety class offered Sept. 8

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer About Boating Safely, an 8-hour introductory class for people 13 and older, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Coast Guard Base Port Angeles.

Topics covered include terminology, rules of the road, boat handling, trailering, legal requirements, equipment and emergency procedures. Successful completion fulfills the class requirement for earning a Washington Boater Education card and federal boating card.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a uniformed civilian volunteer corps with more than 34,000 members nationwide. They carry out missions such as public education, vessel safety checks, and search and rescue.

SkyRidge scramble set

SkyRidge Golf Course in Sequim will hold a three-person scramble tournament Saturday, Sept. 8.

Two drives and two second shots must be used per player.

The event will have a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $90 per team ($30 per player), which includes lunch after play, team KPs and a team long putt.

A honey pot competition is an extra $20 per player.

Trey Green tourney in mid-September

The ninth annual Trey Green Guild Tournament, a benefit for uncompensated medical care at Seattle Children’s Hospital, will be held at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, on Sept. 14.

Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. start is planned for the four-person scramble format event.

Entry fees are $100 per player, $400 per team, and include green fees, range balls, cart, tee prizes and food stations out on the course.

Mulligans also are available for $40 per team (one mulligan and throw per team member).

A KP winner will claim a car, players will shoot for a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, and straight drive, longest putt contests also are planned.

Players also will have the shot to shoot at a boat on hole No. 17.

A golf ball drop will follow play, with Fire District 3 (Sequim) doing the dropping.

Golf balls are $10 each and the three closest to the pin will win cash prizes.
