Storm King squad goes undefeated in tourney play

The Storm King Boys U17 team rolled through their summer tournament season with a perfect 9-0 record, winning both tournaments they entered.

They first played in the U19–U17 division at the Tyee Cup in Gig Harbor Aug. 18-20, beating teams from Gig Harbor, Bainbridge Island and Auburn. They won in penalty kicks in the final, going five-for-five from the penalty spot.

They took their unbeaten record to the Labor Day Cup at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila, held Sept. 1-4. Storm King knocked off teams from Bothell, Tacoma, Bellevue and Seattle before winning 3-1 in the final against a team from North Seattle.

The Storm King team is coached by Aaron St. George and Michael McAleer and is mostly made up of juniors and sophomores from the Port Angeles High School and Sequim High School soccer programs.

Storm King begins their regular season in mid-September as they take aim at winning the top division of the North Puget Sound League in the U17 age bracket.
