Sequim RC Aeronauts

This club provides plenty of opportunities for pilots and wannabe pilots to take off. Only thing is, the pilots stay on the ground. The planes, gliders and helicopters are models flown by radio control.
Beginners learn using a dual system with an instructor to avoid crashes. Pilots must be trained and certified before they are allowed to fly solo at the club’s flying field on Towne Road.
The club is popular with engineer-types, and most of the 40-some members are male. Women are welcome and are said to have a gentler touch on the controls that serves them well. Fly-ins, aerobatics shows and competitions are held with other clubs.
Sequim RC Aeronauts meets at 6:45 p.m. on third Tuesdays at Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave. For more information, call Tim Verdick at RC Hobbies, 681-0506, or see www.sequimrcaeronauts.org.
