Summer program
For those boys in their junior year of high school the American Legion has a summer program for you. Evergreen Boys State is June 21-27 at the Warm Beach Conference Center in Stanwood. EBS aims to simulate and emulate Washington state government through a fun and engaging program.
The participant (Citizen) will have an opportunity to construct local, county and state governments. Activities include running for office, court proceedings and creating and enforcing laws.
Citizens will hone public speaking skills, experience how government works, get inspired by guest speakers and make new friends for life. Check out the web page at www.evergreenboysstate.org.
You will fill out an application online, then I will contact you as the representative of Sequim American Legion Post 62. If you have questions, call me at 683-6419.
Four Chaplains
American Legion Post 62 in Sequim will be the host this year for the Four Chaplains Memorial Service. It will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the post at 107 E. Come and hear their story and how they demonstrated interfaith compassion in their relationship with the men on the ship and with each other. Go online to www.army.mil/fourchaplains and learn more.
