Repertory Dance Theatre makes peninsula appearance

The Juan de Fuca Foundation presents Repertory Dance Theatre at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave. Based in Salt Lake City, Repertory Dance Theatre is the oldest and most successful repertory dance company in the nation.

Unlike conventional modern dance organizations, the theatre focuses on a diverse range of modern dance styles and choreographers that they pair together in “dynamic and unexpected performances.” This special Port Angeles production is called “Excursion” and will features three works commenting on the resilience of the human spirit and the strength of community.

Tickets are $18-40 (youth 14 and younger are $10) and available at Joyful Noise Music in Sequim, Port Book and News in Port Angeles or online at www.jffa.org.

Sarge’s Place offers contest for logo design

Sarge’s Place, part of the North Olympic Regional Veteran’s Housing Network, has opened a farm stand in Forks and is hosting a contest for a new logo. Art can be hand-drawn, hand-painted or computer-generated. The contest winner receives a $100 gift card from Sarge’s Attic secondhand store, 260 Sol Duc Way, Forks.

The design should incorporate the name of the stand (Sarge’s Farmstand), fruit, vegetables and flowers, and a Sergeant star/stripes design (pictured); for a high-resolution of the stars/stripes design, email to sarge@sargesplace.com.

‘Don Quixote’ comes to Port Angeles

The Juan de Fuca Foundation & Ballet Workshop presents two performances of “Don Quixote,” set for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, both at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.

For the performances based on episodes from Miguel de Cervantes famous novel “Man of la Mancha,” Port Angeles welcomes Sam Rodriguez and Makenzie Richter, young breakout stars of the Houston Ballet, as the principal guest artists in this action packed and fiery, Spanish-themed ballet. Performances features a cast of more than 100 homegrown Clallam County ballet and theater artists and choreography featuring matadors, castanets and more.

Tickets are $15-$35 (youth 14 and younger, $10), and are available at Joyful Noise Music in Sequim, Port Book and News in Port Angeles or online at jffa.org.

Petrova returns to Port Angeles

Anna Petrova, piano soloist who dazzled local audiences last April with Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini,” returns for a solo piano recital to benefit the Port Angeles Symphony at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Peninsula College’s Maier Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Her program will include works by Haydn, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff.

Premium ticketing for this event is $40 in advance or $50 at the door. Seating is limited. Call the Symphony office at 360-457-5579 for reservations.

Gospel singers concert

The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers host “I Will Rise,” the group’s 15th-annual spring concert, set for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.

The event features gospel music directed by Michael Rivers, with piano accompaniment by Penny Hall and a local string quartet — as well as special performances from Eva Peterson and David Isaac Rivers.

Sign language interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing audience members provided by Karen Coles.

Open seating adult admission $15; students, $10. Tickets will be sold at the door and are available from members of the Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers
