OPAA hosts Forks wood-crafting artist

The public is invited to attend the Olympic Peninsula Art Association’s meeting set for 9:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, March 22, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. This month’s presenter is Forks folk artist Richard Workman, who will be demonstrating how he designs and creates his wood burning pieces.

Workman attended high school in Florence, Mont., and attended Montana State University with an art scholarship, then served overseas in the U.S. Navy as a mess specialist. In 1988 he became a T-shirt artist in Missoula, Mont., after learning the art of screen printing. His work has been published in various newspapers and magazines, and is the author and illustrator of “Bigfoot Can’t Dance.”

Workman now works as an interior design artist for various restaurants in the area, and shows his work at One of a Kind Gallery in Port Angeles where he hosts workshops in wood-burning.
