A dozen area nonprofits have recently received more than $10,000 from Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, with proceeds coming from the church’s 2017 Yuletide bazaar.
Receiving funds on March 29 were, from left, Clallam Mosaic executive director Priya Jayadev; Rebekah Miller, development associate with Peninsula Behavioral Health; First Teacher executive director Nicole Brewer; Linda DeMoss, vice president of Sequim Community Aid; shelter manager Maria Davila and victim advocate Katie Spooner, both of Forks Abuse Program; Carol Pope with the North Olympic Foster Parent Association, and volunteer Klara Murray and president John Braasch of Voices for Veterans, with Braasch’s service dog Sadie.
Also recognized was fiscal manager Priscilla Schaefer of First Step Family Support Centers, pictured with Gwyn Wessel of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church.
Grants were also sent to Captain Joseph House Foundation, Healthy Families of Clallam County, the Olympic Medical Center Sequim-based Cancer Center Patient Navigator, and Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers.
The fundraiser is organized by members of the church’s craft ministry, who for 18 years have selected recipients that serve families, women and children, primarily in Clallam County.
For the bazaar, dozens of women from Sequim and Port Angeles work January into November to knit, crochet, sew, paint, quilt, bead, bake and create hundreds of items, including seasonal decorations, kitchen and table linens, clothing and greeting cards.
This year’s event will be Saturday, Nov. 17.
