Hales kicks off KSQM’s ‘Music Where You Park’ series
Amy Hales’ Christian, gospel and pop tunes are in the spotlight to start KSQM 91.5 FM’s free “Music Where You Park” series, debuting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Pumpkin Patch, 260045 US Highway 101.
The 10-week series sees attendees in their parked cars at selected locations by 6 p.m., when KSQM 91.5 FM will begin a broadcast.
The format may vary with each group, organizers say, but will include band member interviews interspersed with music that either inspired the featured musical group or some of their own original tracks.
Free raffle tickets are handed out at 6:15 p.m.

Sequim City Band cancels Fourth concert, summer and fall events
The Sequim City Band announced this week the group is cancelling its annual Fourth of July concert, based on restrictions in Phase 2 of Gov. Jay Inslee’s “Safe Start” plan.
Phase 2 does not accommodate an audience for an outdoor concert that maintains the recommended safe distances between groups of people, band members note, forcing the cancellation.
The band is also cancelling the outdoor concerts previously planned for August and September, band members noted; though Clallam and Jefferson counties may be in Phases 3 and 4 of the “Safe Start” program that sees eased restrictions on large group gatherings, band members need safe rehearsal spacing for the musicians.

Wearable art show nixed for 2020
The Olympic Peninsula Wearable Art Show, scheduled for Aug. 1, has been cancelled and efforts have turned toward a show next year, organizers announced this week.
“Our committee considered various options for hosting the show but in the end made the hard decision to cancel,” organizers Cherry Bibler said. “We are looking forward to better days ahead with the ‘promise’ of hosting a stellar OPWART show in the summer of 2021.”
The show is designed to “celebrate creativity, encourage recycling, support youth involvement and include entries from a variety of niches” including wearable art created from recycled or nontraditional materials, fiber arts, upcycled wearable art from existing ready to wear garments/items, along with a specific art category for youth.
See www.opwart.org for more about the show and for updates.
