New hours at Sequim visitor’s center

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Visitor Information Center, at 1192 E. Washington, is expanding hours. The center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Saturday.

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce is also working on creating a new “virtual” visitor information center, digitizing dozens of rack cards featuring local businesses and opportunities that will be eventually available at the chamber’s website at www.sequimchamber.com.

Clallam Mosaic seeks items for fundraiser

Clallam Mosaic, a nonprofit that supports programs that empower individuals with special needs, is looking to close a gap in funding due to the COVID-19 pandemic with a yard sale fundraiser.

Donations of gently used items are now being accepted; all items must be clean and in working order.

To arrange donation drop off, call or text Sandy at 360-607-2910 by Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The yard sale is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at 132 Roman Road, Agnew.

Activism in spotlight at next PC series event

Writer-speaker-activist Shewa Dedeke leads the next Conversations Toward a Culture of Justice, hosted by Peninsula College on Zoom from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

In her discussion, Dedeke will explore questions including these: How do we ensure that the Black Lives Matter movement is not a trend? How do we incorporate the learning and unlearning of racism and personal biases into our everyday lives? How do we center Black and Brown voices in spaces we occupy?

The series runs 4-6 p.m. on each Thursday via Zoom through Aug. 9.

Guild’s thrift shop is open Saturday

The Sequim Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, at 204 W. Bell St. will be open Saturday, Aug. 1; new hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The shop is full of new items, guild members say. See photos of items on the thrift shop Facebook page. The shop features summer shoulder bags, crystal glasses and an oak dining room and more.

Customers are asked to wear a mask.
