Clallam County commissioners adjust voting groups

Thanks to shifts and growth in population in Clallam County since 2010, county officials have adjusted new district voting boundaries that sees three precincts shift from District 1 (east Clallam) to District 2 (central) and another from District 2 to District 3 (west).
On April 19, Clallam County commissioners voted to adopt resolutions that help balance voter districts, adjustments that create equal population within each commissioner district.
The changes see Carlsborg 214, Lost Mountain 245 and Riverside 265 precincts shift from Commissioner District 1 to 2, and Port Angeles 106 precinct has from Commissioner District 2 to 3.
Commissioners also approved new boundary lines for Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1 commissioner districts.
Six voting precincts in the Port Angeles area and one on the West End were adjusted as well; each precinct has a threshold of no more than 1,500 active registered voters.
All Clallam County voters who are affected will be receiving a letter with an updated Voter Registration Card in the mail, elections manager Susan Johnson said last week.
Commissioner districts are redrawn following the national census every 10 years.
