Alan Frank Camagna
1948 – 2025
Alan Frank Camagna passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, from pneumonia, surrounded by angels and love. He was born in Syracuse, New York, in 1948, and spent most of his life in San Jose, California, before settling in Sequim in 2010.
Alan devoted over 30 years to teaching middle-school civics, inspiring generations of students to think critically, care deeply, and engage with their communities.
His Adult Education sessions were known for lively political discussions—always respectful, often spirited, and never dull.
Born into a close-knit Italian family, Alan cherished his heritage and the colorful stories of his grandparents who immigrated from Italy. He remained close to his brother, Carl, and sister, Tina (Celeste), with whom he shared humor, loyalty, deep affection and the official family cocktail, a Manhattan.
Alan’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. Rooted in his Christian beliefs, he nonetheless appreciated the wisdom and beauty in all faith traditions. He was widely known as a true gentleman—kind, steady, thoughtful, and devoted to those around him.
Above all, Alan loved his wife and best friend, Mary Jo, with whom he shared 15 years of partnership, laughter, and grace.
A private burial ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sequim Food Bank (PO Box 896), reflecting Alan’s lifelong compassion for helping others.
