Margaret Mauerman
April 22, 1944 – October 14, 2025
Margaret Joyce Mauerman (Curtis/Goings), known to everyone as Maggie, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. She was 81 years old. A longtime resident of the Puyallup area and part time Sequim resident, Maggie was a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, and a vibrant soul whose love for her family was only matched by her enthusiasm for hosting and celebrating life.
Maggie was born on April 22, 1944, in Puyallup, Washington. She spent her early days on the family farm and married young, focusing on the dedicated work of raising a family.
Maggie was renowned for her flair for style, fashion, and home decorating. She worked for the Pierce County Budget and Finance Department while raising four children, and also worked for Tacoma Electric Supply, assisting with sales. Later in life, she became a dedicated employee of Safeway and was a proud union member of UFCW Local 3000.
Family was the most important thing to Maggie—her absolute pride and joy. She was famous for her legendary hosting, which included everything from tennis tournaments and off-the-chart Halloween parties to family reunions and “Survivor” competitions. She loved cooking for her family; her ribs, potato salad, baked beans, and classic Christmas refrigerator sugar cookies were hits at every gathering. Maggie loved telling her family she loved them “to the moon and back.” In her leisure time, she loved gardening, tending beautiful flowers, and most recently, enjoyed playing pickleball.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Viola Curtis, and her brothers, James, Ronald, Terrence, and Wally, her sister, Shirley Bailes and her beloved dog Charlie.
She is survived by her four loving children and their spouses: Curtis Goings (Nancy) of Puyallup, WA; Denise Mackeda (Tony) of Sun City West, AZ; Deanne Lindberg (Marc) of Milton, WA; Calvin Goings (David Ham) of Sequim, WA. Maggie’s family also includes former daughter-in-law, Amy Morrison of
Kirkland, WA, mother to one of her cherished grandchildren.
Maggie was also the proud and beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Michael Goings (Chandler), Tony Mackeda Jr., Amanda Goings, Lauren Tiedman (Jeff), Sara Lindberg, and William Goings. She was a doting great-grandmother to Ryland, and Livvy, and was overjoyed and eagerly anticipating the arrival
of great-grandchild twins.
She is also survived by a former spouse, Randy Mauerman, of Puyallup. Maggie was married to Cal Goings, the father of her four children, before they parted ways, and she remained close friends with him and his wife, Stacey, until her death. Maggie is also survived by her devoted furry companion, Lilly.
The family is heartbroken and will share details of a funeral and celebration of Maggie’s remarkable life when they become available.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Maggie’s memory to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS), an organization dedicated to the compassionate care of pets like her beloved Lilly.
