Raymond T Hanson
January 21, 1931 – September 28, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we formally announce the passing of Ray T. Hanson. It is with a joyful heart that we celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.
He was born January 21, 1931 to August and May Hanson in Miller, South Dakota, and passed away at his home in Port Angeles September 28, 2025. He was the youngest of eight children.
Dad was the rock of our family. The center. He made everything better, happier, more joyful. A humble man, born from humble beginnings, he cared most about connection, kindness, friendship. He cared more for the journey than the destination, and he wanted to connect and take that journey with you. Ray loved Christ, his country, his family, friends, and connecting with people. He worked hard all his life and provided for the ones he loved. He liked to stay informed on world events, follow his favorite sports teams, and remain involved in the lives of his family. He loved to travel and experience new things.
Ray was educated at Biola University, Palmer College of Chiropractic, and Western Seminary. He had several careers as a Baptist minister, a YMCA director of Port Angeles, and a Doctor of Chiropractic in Port Angeles and Forks for 35 years. He loved being a Doctor of Chiropractic and the opportunity to heal and bring relief to people in pain. It was his life’s work.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughters Jennifer Montin and Bonnie Melanson, his sons Daniel Hanson, Andrew Hanson, and Cameron Hanson, his five grandchildren, Gionvanni Hanson, Joshua Melanson, David Melanson, Hanah Melanson, and Rachel Melanson, and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, August and May Hanson, his sisters June, Ellen, Brita, Nina, Jean, and brothers Art and Bob.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the IBC church.
