Allen Gregory Jensen
October 18, 1936 – July 28, 2025
Allen Gregory Jensen passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 in his home in Port Angeles, WA. Born on October 18, 1936 in Poulsbo, WA, he was the son of Joseph and Hilda Jensen.
Allen was a 1955 North Kitsap Graduate and served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. His training and experience in the military set him on a path in the telecommunication industry. From Pacific telephone, NW Bell, Alaska Communication, US West, AT&T to Lucent Technologies; “Al the phone guy” grew with the ever-changing industry until he founded Angeles Communications, to continue to serve the needs of his customers on the Olympic Peninsula. The company is still in business today after stepping down to retire in 1999.
Allen spent his retirement with a camper strapped to his truck visiting the United States parks along with friends and relatives scattered from Alaska to Arizona. Being a lifelong member of The Elks, he collected pins from almost every lodge across the nation. He donated his collection book to the Naval Elks Lodge in Port Angeles, WA which continues to be on display. Through the many stories of his adventures, it truly proved that he was living life to the fullest.
Starting from childhood, Al liked to fish and forage. Many summers were spent hiking through forests and clear cuts searching for the elusive wild blackberries and huckleberries to be found on the Olympic Peninsula. Trips were planned around crabbing and clamming season, and the goods were always shared with friends and family. Whether it was fresh cracked crab, clams for chowder, blackberry jam or some of the best smoked salmon you’d ever had, he loved to provide.
He was always quick with a smile, a laugh and a cold MGD beer. He will be missed. He is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Jensen, Jr., Kodiak, AK and sister June Schubert, Seattle, WA.
He is survived by sisters Carol Webster, Fountain Valley, CA and Susan Bird (Ed), Silverdale, WA; sons Gregory Jensen (Cynthia), Bellingham, WA and Kris Jensen (Mona Dahnert), Sacramento, CA; daughter Heidi Ridgway (Michael), Port Angeles, WA, stepdaughter Tracie Binderis (Pierre), Stockholm, Sweden; and stepsons Robert Jensen (Robin), Port Angeles, WA and Scott Jensen (Aaron), Port Angeles, WA. He is also survived by grandchildren Joel Jensen, Hannah Soohoo-Hui (Nathaniel), Rebekah Henson (Cory), Donovan Smart, Alex, Max and Vanessa Binderis, Ross Jensen, Jolynn Peterson, David Jensen, Michael Jensen and Lindsey Jensen; and great grandchildren Theo & Sophie Soohoo-Hui, Jes Jensen, Tristen and Kylie Jensen, Emilee and Madi Jensen.
A small family service was held in August where he was interred in the Jensen family plot in Poulsbo, WA.
If desired, donations can be made to your local Volunteer Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital (his favorite charity).
