Alice Irene Barr

Alice Irene Barr, 89, of Poulsbo, Washington passed away peacefully on Monday March 5, 2018 at the Harbor House in Poulsbo. Born in Ada, Minnesota she was the daughter of the late Marie Theoline and Emil Rasmussen. A graduate of Ellensburg High School Class of 1946, she enjoyed her teenage years working at Ostrander’s Drug Store. After her high school graduation, she moved to Seattle where she was employed by Sears and Roebuck working in the accounting department.

During this time Alice met and eventually married her loving husband Franklin Dale Barr in Seattle in 1953. A few years later they moved to the Dungeness Spit in Sequim. Alice had many fun lunches and get-togethers with the women in her “lunch bunch” group.

After Frank retired from commercial fishing in Alaska, the two enjoyed spending time in Hawaii visiting friends, especially Alice’s long time friend Florence Hayslip, and her sister Dee in Arizona. Alice was a much beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandma, and great grandma. She was an avid gardener and an excellent baker, best known for her delicious pies and cakes.
