Volunteers needed to help plant native trees along Siebert Creek

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition and the North Olympic Land Trust are looking for volunteers to help plant native trees along Siebert Creek from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
The effort will also include a short tour of the conservation area. Snacks, tea and coffee are provided.
A limited supply of tools and gloves will be provided at the planting; however, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own. Bring waterproof clothes and boots, water and a lunch.
The Siebert Creek Conservation Area is a 38.5-acre parcel protected by the North Olympic Land Trust; about 1,500 feet of Siebert Creek flows through the conservation area. The main stem and tributaries of Siebert Creek support coho salmon, winter steelhead and cutthroat trout, conservation officials say. Re-vegetation along Siebert Creek will help restore fish habitat that has seen a lot of degradation because of human activities, including logging, placement of road culverts and over-fishing, they say.
