Poet performs at Bella Italia

Mary Lou Sanelli, author, speaker and dance teacher, will appear at Bella Italia, 118 E. First St., Port Angeles, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, for a live performance from her book of poetry “The Immigrant’s Table. “The story is all about Italian food. And being Italian. It’s a fun presentation. People can order off the regular menu … drink wine … and listen and laugh,” Sanelli said.

Sci-fi writer to read Fourth Friday

Fourth Friday Readings hosts feature science fiction writer Wulf Moon at 6:15 p.m. April 26 at The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim, in the second floor media room. Writers may sign-up for five-minute open mic readings that follow. Guidelines are available through lindabmyers@yahoo.com.

Arts to Elders comes to Sequim, hosts Friedman

The Northwind Arts Center hosts a free concert featuring Judith-Kate Friedman at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 24, at Suncrest Village, 251 S. Fifth Ave.

The first Arts to Elders concert held outside Port Townsend, the event originally was scheduled for February but was postponed because of a winter storm.

Friedman is an award-winning performing songwriter, folk/roots recording artist and producer.

The Arts to Elders concert series is an outreach service of the Northwind Arts Center in cooperation with Port Townsend’s five senior residential care centers. The concerts normally rotate among the centers, but are open and free to all. This is the first concert in Sequim.

Library group to talk ‘I’ll Push You’

The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group meets at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., to discuss “I’ll Push You” by Patrick Gray. The story includes two best friends, 500 miles, one wheelchair and the challenge of a lifetime.

Coryell-Martin’s ice-themed art on display

Maria Coryell-Martin, an artist following the tradition of traveling artists as naturalists and educators, will have her work featured in a solo exhibition in Peninsula College’s PUB Gallery of Art, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, through May 16.

Coryell-Martin will also host an artist talk in the Little Theater at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, as a part of Peninsula College’s Studium Generale lecture series, with a reception following in the gallery.

The exhibit will feature field sketches and studio paintings from both Greenland and Antarctica. Since 2005, she has focused on painting polar and glaciated regions, working scientists and expeditions in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Canada, Greenland and the Antarctic Peninsula.

County tunes set at the grange

The Buck Ellard Band plays country favorites from 5:30-8 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road. The $10 entry fee includes Easter dinner.

Men with Guitars set for April 20

The Men with Guitars concert is back in 2019, helping support the Mujeres de Maiz Opportunity Foundation, at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Enjoy music from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s as performed by Steve Anderson and BBR — Bill Tiderman, Barry Burnett and Rudy Maxion.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are a suggested $15 donation; no advance tickets are available.

All proceeds go to educational programs and projects of Mujeres de Maiz Opportunity Foundation, a Sequim based 501(c)(3) providing access to education to women and children in Chiapas, Mexico.

Organizers of the Sequim Irrigation Festival Innovative Arts and Crafts Fair Reuse Showcase are seeking upcycle art entries for the event set for May 3 and 4.

The public is invited to bring DIY reuse, recycle, repurpose creations during the event and for visitors to vote for winners. Enter to win in People’s Choice Awards in four categories: Wearable, Functional, Decorative and Kids 15 and under. Winners are announced on Sunday, May 5.

Trio takes stage for Maier Hall series

The PNW Trio — including Jennifer Nelson (clarinet), Wendy Wilhelmi (flute) and Francine Peterson (bassoon) — take to the stage at the 2019 Maier Hall Concert Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The three women that comprise the trio have been friends and colleagues for decades, and are all busy freelance musicians in Seattle. Individually, they have performed with most of the major orchestras and professional theaters in the Pacific Northwest region, as well as playing on hundreds of recordings for motion pictures, television and video games. During their PC performance, they will premiere “Triology” by PC faculty composer David P. Jones.
