The Sequim Education Foundation announced recently the nonprofit’s selection of eight scholarship recipients to graduating Sequim High School seniors.
Scholarship recipients include:
• James Halloran Memorial Scholarship: Deven Biehler, Daisy Ryan
• Woodward P. Ward Fund: Jessica Dietzman, Erin Dwyer
• Jane Q. Miller & Gertrude Greenside Scholarship: Wren Fierro-Burdick, Kianna Miller
• June Robinson Journalism Scholarship: Meguire Vandervelde
• Ray & June Robinson STEM Scholarship: Vita Olson
“Our scholarship committee had a difficult time selecting the scholarship awardees because of the high caliber and impressive achievements of all who submitted applications,” SEF executive director Merissa Koller said in a press release.
In addition, the foundation awarded scholarships to six seniors for their performances at SEF competitions:
• Engineering Challenge Scholarship: Vita Olson, Nathan Whittle, Connor Forderer, Brianna Jack
• Film Festival Scholarship: Nicholas D’Amico, Zoe Yates
The Film Festival and Engineering Challenge Scholarship Program will award $19,325 in scholarships between 2017-2024, Koller said.
“2020 was a challenging year for many organizations offering scholarships because it was not possible to review scholarship notebooks typically prepared by students and housed in the Sequim High School library,” she said. “Fortunately, SEF’s scholarship submittal and evaluation process, which requested information independent of the student scholarship notebooks, was not affected.”
